Aaron's Porcelain Bowls : These bowls are thrown and altered works, made of porcelain, and designed to hang on the wall. Their three-dimensionality, exaggerated perspective, glaze technique and narrative update a significant 15th century Renaissance style into a 21st century neo-post modern sensibility. John's wall hanging design using the flush-mount system is considered a standard of earthquake-proof installation. He studied with Robert Arneson, Peter Voulkos and John and Suzanne Stephenson. This body of work got its start in 1982 in Boulder, Colorado. While working for Mile Hi Ceramics, Denver, CO in 1998, John field tested the Duncan Concepts underglaze products for color combination and nuance. He wrote an article, "The Making of Welcome to Trinity" that was featured in the November 2005 issue of the Australian magazine, Ceramics Technical. Most works take an average of 125-150 hours. As with most ceramic art, their archival durability is one of the standards of artistic longevity. He is known for his use of art history in his imagery; for his range in the medium of ceramics, and has had more than twenty-five solo exhibitions from coast to coast. The artist is considered to be one of the last people creating this particular style of work. John was a Docent and lecturer at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC from 2003-2006.
