The Museum of Modern ARF
John Aaron - Artist and Director
Style:
Washington Lee High School of Arlington, VA
was the first high school we know of to participate
in CHALK4PEACE. They had some awesome big sticks of
vivid chalk and, among the art you see here, drew a
whale so large that we couldn't photograph it!
The artists often used "wordsmithing" to make their point.
Brilliant colors made much of their work appear more like painting.
About 50 artists joined in, encouraged by students who have participated
in previous Modern ARF chalk painting events and their visual arts teacher
and mentor, Joanne Bickelhaupt. Some continued their chalk adventures
on Saturday when they showed up at the King Library in DC.
