CHALK4PEACE '14: The Gooden School
The Gooden School of Sierra Madre, California once again drew the entire school
together to celebrate CHALK4PEACE and the International Day of Peace on Gooden's
Day of Peace 9/25/14. This is their eighth year of C4P; Gooden is amongst a growing number of
locations worldwide that have made CHALK4PEACE an annual event as a way to Teach Peace.
Dr. Marianne van Voorst Ryan and Headmistress Patricia Patano have organized this event since
2007; John Aaron, Founder of CHALK4PEACE, makes a point of attending Gooden's events.
Peaceful Creativity was at its height during this day of CHALK4PEACE. Mrs. Brittany Gonzalez,
an educator for the Third Grade, was making sure her students were prepared by asking
thoughtful questions like "What does Peace look Line? ...taste like? ...smell like?
What does Peace feel and sound like? All these things are so different for everyone.
For 2015, CHALK4PEACE recommends that we study the exercises practiced by our friends
the Third Graders to better understand the ways of Peace...
Thank you also to Meghan Snyder for the wonderful photos of the Gooden CHALKSTARS!
